Testimonials

“If you would like any task in your life, any challenge you are faced with seem easier, then I recommend you come for a cold plunge!

Doing something so difficult, pushing through the discomfort to the other side builds resilience and confidence like I have never experienced before cold plunging. Since adding the regular routine of cold plunging into my life, I have surprised myself with how much I am capable of. It's amazing!”

“I'm a wife and mom of two boys. My life is both beautiful and busy. I had been struggling with my health and it was taking a toll on me mentally.

When I first tried cold plunging it was something I'd seen Kim doing that seemed challenging and a bit crazy.

With all the confusion and stress I was feeling around my own health I felt the need to be in control of something, I needed to conquer something hard. So I said yes to an invitation from Kim and I gave cold plunging a try. I had no idea that one decision would impact me so deeply.

You can easily read about all the benefits but truly experiencing them is something completely different. I recommend giving this a try because you deserve to feel better too.”

Who we are

Kimberly Davidson - founder and crazy cold water enthusiast

Kimberly Davidson - founder and crazy cold water enthusiast

Long-time city dweller turned country star-gazer, Kimberly has always been health focused.  In 2010, she graduated with Honors and as Valedictorian from Toronto’s leading school of nutrition, The Institute of Holistic Nutrition. Now the Coordinator for the Trent Hills School Nutrition Program, Kimberly focuses on getting our local youth excited about cooking and growing their own food.

Although originally from Montreal, Kimberly grew up hating the cold. The idea of climbing into freezing cold water would have never EVER crossed her mind a few years ago. When her world came crashing down in 2021 with her husband’s cancer diagnosis smack in the middle of the pandemic, Kimberly went into the cold. She started cold plunging every other day in the river in her backyard. She immediately started noticing benefits, especially when it came to her mental health. In 2023, Kimberly's husband ended up passing away leaving her at 43 to raise a 7 + 4 year old entirely on her own. She credits cold plunging as one of the main tools that has helped her on her grief journey. That is where the idea of water + wood was born. As Kimberly works to rebuild her life, she has found community through cold plunging. Along with her experience, she has seen so many others benefit from this practice and wanted to share it with as many people as possible.

When Kimberly is not sitting in freezing cold water, you’ll likely find her adventuring in her vintage trailer with her 2 girls and their 3-legged dog, Charlie.
